Draughts (Checkers): The Classic Two-Player Strategy Game

The goal of Draughts is to capture all of your opponent's pieces or block them so they cannot make a move. The game is played on a standard 8x8 checkerboard with two players, each controlling 12 pieces of a different color (typically black and red).

Players take turns moving a single piece diagonally forward onto a vacant square. The core of the game is capturing: if a piece can jump over an opponent's piece into an empty square on the other side, the opponent's piece is captured and removed from the board. The true mark of a skilled player is getting a piece to the opposite end of the board, where it is "kinged" and gains the ability to move and jump both forwards and backwards.
